Bagé
Bage
amazes, pure and simple. Outstanding, it provides some of the best
rock climbing in the state of Rio Grande do Sul. A magnificent untouched
chain of sandstone rocks soars up to 330 feet high, surrounded by
enormous farms and seemingly endless green carpets of pasture. The
almost infinite possibilities of rock climbing, and the treks to access
the ascents, will leave you breathless. The routes range from 5.1
to 5.13 with multiple pitches. This is a comfortable 350 mile
drive from Porto Alegre—making it a minimum three day outing.
This adventure is for those who enjoy real-deal camping, sleeping
in a tent with sleeping bags. But don’t despair, your return
to camp will find a hearty, typical local delicacy hot and waiting
for you at the campfire. (Note, BAGE is close enough to Caçapava
do Sul that you can do them both on the same trip, bagging two of
Southern Brazil’s most scenic and rewarding climbing experiences.
